February 20 Flash Fiction: Phantom Ink

Today’s flash fiction prompt: Write about a very surprising tattoo. I slid into verse for this one. I had a single idea for the prompt, but didn’t feel prose would work for it.

Phantom Ink

Met one hot night in the summer

I knew it was all meant to be

Loss drove us into each other

For we’d suffered great tragedy

Thought we would get ink together

To honor a lost memory

My arm portrayed my dead mother

But his bore a picture of me
